SELF ASSESMENT

The end has come and I can't realise that four years have passed since I entered for first time in this high school. In this four years I have learnt a lot of new grammar and vocabulary but in my opinion I've specially improved my listening. It has been four wonderful years learning here and hope that next years will be similar. Happy Holidays and goodbye Tomás Bretón

MEMORIES OF MY SCHOOL DAYS

First grade
I remember that my first day at Tomás Bretón wasn’t very enjoyable for me, because most of my friends were in another class so I spent most of the time thinking about my bad luck instead of paying attention to the teachers who were introducing theirselves and explaining their subjects.
As the days passed I started talking with new people and making new friends so everything turned better, but I hated to leave class later than at primary school so of course I also hated the seventh hour.
The most remarkable project of this course was the performance of the Shakespeare’s play: A midsummer night’s dream.
Second grade
The first course finished and after summer, the second one started. I was really looking forward to the English week but it was passed to the third grade so I was really disappointed.
In this course we created our own blogs to upload the projects that we made in class and at first I thought that it was a bad idea but actually it has been very useful.

Third grade
The third course started and in the first weeks during the clases I was thinking all the time: This class was better last year. But finally it has been one of the years that I’ve enjoyed the most.
In this course I started with a bit of fear because in my case I noticed that there were some subjects that were quite difficult comparing them with the previous year, but finally everything went ok.
This year the English Week couldn’t be done because there weren’t enough teachers, but luckily I could go to France with the French class and it was great.

Fourth grade
The fourth grade had arrived and I couldn’t believe that so much time had passed since I started in this High School and I hoped that it would be a great course and it is being a great course.
We’ve finally gone to Ireland in the English Week after so much time of waiting and I enjoyed it a lot because it was a new and different experience-
We’ve gone to Malaga of end-of-school trip
And in spite of it is a difficult year because the contents of some subjects are quite hard, I wouldn’t change anything of what I’ve done.
This has been my experience in Tomás Bretón and I think that it has been incredible to be here during this four years next to all my classmates and I hope that the following years will be similar.
Thanks
PABLO MORENO BARRIOS 4ºA

Aerobic and Anaerobic metabolism

Anaerobic metabolism is the creation of energy through the combustion of carbohydrates in the absence of oxygen. This occurs when your lungs cannot put enough oxygen into the bloodstream to keep up with the demands of your muscles for energy. It generally is used only for short bursts of activity, such as when you go for a sprint when running or cycling or when you are lifting heavy weights.

Aerobic metabolism is the way your body creates energy through the combustion of carbohydrates, amino acids, and fats in the presence of oxygen. Combustion means burning, which is why this is called burning sugars, fats, and proteins for energy. Aerobic metabolism is used for the sustained production of energy for exercise and other body functions. Examples of exercises that use aerobic metabolism include walking, running, or cycling with sustained effort.

In the aerobic metabolic process, the human body uses a molecule of glucose to produce 36 adenosine triphosphate (ATP) molecules. ATP is what fuels your muscles. Anaerobic metabolism, which is used for vigorous muscle contraction, only produces two ATP molecules per glucose molecule, so it is much less efficient.

Your body will often switch between aerobic and anaerobic metabolism during sports and exercise activities that require short bursts of sprints as well as sustained jogging, such as in soccer, tennis, and basketball.

Difference between Aerobic and Anaerobic metabolism:

  • Anaerobic metabolism is not as efficient as aerobic metabolism.
  • A molecule of glucose can only produce three ATP molecules under anaerobic metabolism, while it produces 39 with aerobic metabolism.
  • Anaerobic metabolism can only use glucose and glycogen, while aerobic metabolism can also break down fats and protein.

VICTOR'S BLOG VIDEO COMMENT

In my opinion it is a very useful video because it speaks about an interesting topic, Aerobic vs Anaerobic exercise, and it explains it not only speaking , it also uses images and that help people to understand it. From my point of view we should watch more videos like this in class because for example, in my case I didn't really know nothing about ATP and how it is created and I think it is very useful
